Liz (Eckert) Taylor
We definitely need a Midpark high school class of 1981 reunion! I would be more than willing to help out, too. Just let me know. Currently, I am divorced with three boys. I live in Cleveland and work in Westlake for Viking Sewing Machines. My oldest son attends Midpark! Since we had a 5 year and a 13 year reunion (both odd choices) why not have another one for our 23rd! Can't wait to see everyone again! And thanks, Mike, for giving us all a chance to meet again on your website! Go Meteors!

Since there appears to be an interest in getting a class reunion together, I'd like to propose starting a reunion committee. There's really no reason why it should have to wait to be initiated through the executive committee. Since there was no 20th reunion, and as far as I know, no current plans for a 25th, I think that anyone interested should just get things rolling. Based on my past experience in attempting to organize the 13 year reunion from outside of the state (along with two other out-of-towners: Ramona and Lisa Geiger), I can't make a commitment to lead this crusade. But I will serve as a central means of communication until a committee chair is decided upon. And I'm sure that Michael Hasara will be happy to help me out with this... So please either post a notice on this message board, or email Michael or me directly if you're interested.

I second Lynn's motion for a reunion and would like to volunteer to be on the reunion committee. Like she said, we need to just get something going and not wait for someone else to do it. Pass the word on and let's put this together.

Hi everyone. I think this Midpark High School 1981 site has the potential to generate a lot of interest. Great job, Mike! Please let me know if I can be of help. Seems like yesterday, doesn't it?

Hi All! Thanks Mike for putting this site together and thanks Tom for forwarding it to me. Hope you are all well. I haven't strayed far from Midpark high school since 1981. My husband and I live in Middleburg Heights with our two sons -10 and 5. I'm a 2nd grade teacher in Strongsville (I had Tom Kerslake's son!) and my husband, Neal, graduated from Midpark in 1980. He's a dentist here in town. I also look forward to a clas of 81 reunion as I haven't attended one yet. I'd be glad to help!

Hello all, from Winchester, Virginia. Since I am not as up on websites building as others, I am glad to see Mike take that initiative. I had a great time at the 13th reunion and am also looking forward to our 25th in 2006. I am willing to help out as much as possible, despite living in Virginia. My home phone number is 540-545-4678...or just email me:-). I am currently working at the Air Traffic Control Systems Command Center in Herndon, Virginia. Been married for 15 years with two daughters, one a freshman and the other in eigth grade. Man does time fly...it seems like I was in my first year at Midpark high school...well, just yesterday and now I have a daughter there! Life is crazy and very busy, but I will not miss out on a chance to see the great people of the Class of 1981. Thanks again Mike for getting the ball rolling!!

Hi all! Great website, it's nice to hear how everyone's doing. A reunion is a great idea. If there is anything I can help with let me know. Others I have talked to feel the same. I'm married, living in Middleburg Hts, my oldest daughter plays division I soccer for a college in North Carolina, and my twins are in 7th grade in Ford Middle School. Hopefully they're paving a path in academics I didn't. Thanks again for the website.

I am in the Cleveland area and would e willing to help out with a reunion. I have talked to other '81 grads that would also be willing to help out. The website is a great idea. Hopefully, more people will come across it.

Hi Everyone! And Happy New Year. I would like to get this reunion ball rolling, so anyone interested in being part of the planning committee for our 25th reunion, please contact me directly by sending a note to my email address. I would like to have a tentative committee in place soon and have a meeting next month some time. I am really excited to see everyone again. Unfortunately, I no longer have a yearbook and can't put names and faces together. But that's what the reunion is for! P.S. If anyone has any idea how I CAN get a yearbook, please let me know. See you all soon.
2004.01.05 - 16:03:57
Liz (Eckert) Taylor
I've received the name of the contact for a yearbook - so thank you to those who responded. I've even had responses to the reunion committee already! This is very exciting. Please feel free to send me any ideas that you might have as well. We want this to be the best reunion ever in the state of Ohio!!

hi everyone! glad that there's a website finally but i just heard about it from linda norton. can't wait for the next reunion, it's been way too long. I'm living in pickerington(east of columbus) with my husband and two sons;ages 91/2 & 12. would love to help with reunion.

Heidi (Stang) van Hanswijk Pennink
Reading through all your postings has been SO fun! I learned about the website when the president of the Midpark Alumni Association hunted me down to tell me someone had found the class ring I lost in 1980--it was buried in dirt at the Midpark track! I have lived in Colorado since 1986 and need a reason to come visit Cleveland, so let me know how to help with a reunion! (Glad to hear I did NOT miss the 20th after all!)

Hey everyone, It was great to see some interest in the class of '81. Great job Mike. I guess I feel like the old one of the group here. My 4 kids range from 22 to 15, 3 boys and 1 girl. My daughter is the second oldest. I also have a grandson from my oldest with another on the way. Would love to help with a reunion. Between work and family, I do have some free time.

Hi all! Thanks Steve for informing me of the website. What a ticket to see all these names! Memories.... Kevin R. how's the family? Joni, Mary Ann lives in Middleburg with her two sons Nick and AJ and works at the Middleburg rec. center. Great site Mike. Who's getting the ball rolling on the reunion? I would love to help out on the planning. I'm still nearby, here in Strongsville.

Hi everyone...Mike, this website is great! It is so good to see how everyone is doing from school. I'm married and still living in BrookPark. We have 2 boys..or should I say men.....20 and 14. Both went to Ford and Midpark, and now the oldest is in college. It would be great to have a reunion. Let me know if I can help, lets not wait too long or it will be our 30th before we know it!!! Thanks again Mike!!

Just wondering how the reunion is coming along... We haven't heard from anyone lately. Liz (Eckert) had volunteered to coordinate all those who had indicated an interest in getting things going...any progress to report?
2005.05.18 - 13:46:21
Lynn Lancaster
I can organize the reunion if you'd like to have it in New Jersey...
2005.05.18 - 17:08:41
Michael Hasara
i think we should have the reunion in the midpark cafeteria.
2005.05.21 - 09:40:31
david hager
or in the smoking area next to the cafeteria
2005.05.21 - 16:27:14
Michael Hasara
officially...it was the smoking 'lounge'... probably due to all of the satisfying nicotine enjoyment that occurred there. that would be a great spot for the reunion cocktail and cheese bar.
2005.07.12 - 00:41:53
Kevin Kennedy
Are we making any progress in planning a reunion. Would be glad to help as time permits, but thinking we probably need to put a committee together and get started. Otherwise the 25th reunion may become the 26th...27th...28th....
2005.07.13 - 16:42:01
Cyndi (Carpenter) Quinn
I agree with Kevin. Maybe we should pick a date and meeting place and anyone interested in helping plan the reunion could show up and a committee could be formed.
2005.10.09 - 09:05:30
Liz (Eckert) Taylor
Hey everyone. I haven't forgotten about the reunion. In the words of willlie nelson, its always on my mind. I am still very interested in starting the reunion plans. For those interested, I'd like to make a date now for an initial meeting. For those interested, lets meet next Saturday afternoon October 16th at Jerome's Pizza on Bagley road. Let's say around 2:00. Please email me if you will plan to be there. As you can see I have a new email address, so please use this one to write to me.
2005.10.09 - 09:13:53
Liz (Eckert) Taylor
Saturday is the 15th, not the 16th. So it is on Saturday. I have sent a few emails to those who have expressed interest in the past. See you all soon.
2005.10.09 - 22:03:05
Liz (Eckert) Taylor
I have had a few interested parties respond to my posting already to meet on Saturday for a reunion planning event. You can email me directly at etaylor2143@sbcglobal.net.
2005.10.11 - 09:14:43
Susan (Stochl) Goodrich
Unfortunately my daughter has her final home soccer game as a senior that day and time. However, I would still be interested in helping in any way I can. Please let me know the results of the meeting.
2005.10.13 - 18:05:36
Liz (Eckert) Taylor
Sue, I will certainly keep you posted. Response is slow, folks, so if you are serious about a reunion, send me an email to etaylor2143@sbcglobal.net. But regardless, we have a small group meeting this Saturday as planned and will at least start things rolling.

Hi Everyone. The reunion committee is off and running. We will be meeting again on Saturday November 5th at 2:00 at Panera's in Strongsville. Please feel free to join us, post your thoughts or ideas on the site, or email me directly. Also, if you don't see your fellow 1981 midpark grads on the site, let them know they need to register. There are only about 80 classmates registered out of a class of over 500. So SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!!
2005.10.25 - 01:49:29
Michael Hasara
a big component of a successful reunion will be to make contact with as many 1981 midpark classmates as possible. i know that many of you here are members at sites like classmates.com and reunion.com and others. if you are...please post the midpark1981.com web site address and send emails/messages to the 1981 grads there so they can get their butts to our site and in the pipeline for reunion planning and information.
thanks!

i knew that once 'chics' started taking over the reunion planning...that the meetings would start taking place at spots like 'panera'.
[insert snoring sound effect here.]
let me know when pizza is back in the rotation and i might even head up there to cleveland for the weekend.
my vote is 'antonios'.
michael
2005.11.05 - 07:56:11

I'm not sure who suggested Panera's - my vote was for Starbucks and a great big dose of expresso!!! but i was outvoted (by guys, just for the record).

Hey everyone! The next reunion meeting has been planned for next month at the Chug-A-Lug Inn. Time and date to be announced. We will be discussing plans for the reunion dinner including bottle vs draught, chili dogs with or without beans, music by Led Zeppelin or broadcasting an NCAA football game, and finally whether to consider the up charge to have the Hooter girls as servers for the big event. Hope to see you all there!

Mike, Awesome job on the web site!! I makes me feel like I am 17 again, except that back then I could not spell WWW. I can't help with the reunion but hope to attend. Anyway you can get some then and now photos so I can relearn a few names before hand?? To all, hope you are well and I send you a big Hola! from Bogota.

Maureen (Conway) Reich
I think all of 2006 is going to be a big party! I'm so glad I went to the reunion meeting. At first I didn't care too much, but seeing just a few people brought back some great memories. Everyone who can should try to get involved in some way. We're going to have a great time in the coming year! Thanks for getting everything started Mike & Liz! And, I'm all for the ChugALug-Inn! Sounds like a great place for a productive meeting.
2005.11.11 - 18:54:55
Maureen (Conway) Reich
We need to find Karen Tavani and get her on the reunion committee to go along with the pic on the Home page! Does anyone know where she is?
2005.11.12 - 06:55:18
Liz (Eckert) Taylor
I thought about finding Karen, too, so we could do a re-enactment of the couch pic at the reunion! But in all fairness, we'd also have to do one of the "babe fest" and the "Meteor Men".

Spoke with Scott Gaede Tonite from Bogata Columbia, Told me I told him about the web site last year and Told Jeff Monyak as well. Wow, 25 years already! I moved to Charlotte, NC back in '82 and have not been back since the mid '80's. It would great to see everyone since I have done a lousy job keeping in touch with people. It would give me a good reason to get back to Cleveland...Hope everyone is doing well. See Y'all soon.

Maureen (Conway) Reich
I was recently thinking back to some of the memorable things about high school. Remember car washes for donations, rides to games on the band bus, and eating as many chocolate filled donuts as you wanted every morning because some group was always peddling them in the cafeteria for 25 cents a piece? Do you think we could make money for the reunion by putting our 42 year old bodies in bikinis and washing cars now??
2005.12.04 - 14:07:19
Karelyn (Youngblood) Holub
Sure - Great idea Maureen! I bet people would throw money at us to put some clothes on! We'll have to discuss that at our next reunion meeting.
2005.12.27 - 10:25:03
David Hager
Perhaps if everyone attended the next reunion meeting in bikinis, we could get an idea on whether or not this car wash fund raiser will fly.
2005.12.31 - 14:26:11
Maureen (Conway) Reich
I think Steve & Steve will look really cute in their bikinis at the next meeting! :o) Will you be there too Dave? Happy New Year everyone! This should be a great year! Thanks, Mike, for getting my password to work again.
2006.01.10 - 23:00:29
Judy (Ricketts) Owens
Greetings from Colorado! I'm not sure I would vote for the bikini adventure...but wonder if we have a date for the reunion yet? Looking forward to seeing everyone!
2006.01.22 - 20:38:40
Paul Voigt
I don't know Dave, but the thought of you in a bikini might scare some people away.
2006.01.31 - 07:20:01

We had a reunion committee meeting this past weekend, and I actually had my bikini on under my clothes! Everything is really coming together. We are working hard to make sure that this is going to be a fun event! Stay tuned...

Do we have a venue, menu, music, theme, etc. for the 25th Class reunion this year on Oct 14? One idea for the committee might be to solicit ideas/votes via email survey... Am willing to help (though not sure how much I can do from Alaska...). Glad there is a date to plan around now!

We'll arrange a way to get them from your attic to our website/video/albums, etc.

Hello fellow classmates!! On behalf of the '81 Reunion Committee members, we wanted to provide you with some additional details regarding our upcoming reunion and ask for your help. The reunion is scheduled for October 14, 2006. It will be held in Downtown Cleveland at the City Club. Right now we are looking at an approx. price of $65 - $80 per person. We will be finalizing this number soon. We have been able to secure group rates with several of the hotels around the area for the weekend. Here is where we need your help! Noreen Dittrich (O'Malley), Kim Kaiser (Wither) and myself have been working on classmate lists we received, but they are quite old and we are in need of current addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. In order to keep you updated, please contact either Kim, Noreen, myself or any one of the other committee members (listed in Steve's message from 4/28) through this website with your current information. If you know the whereabouts of any other classmates, we would appreciate any information that you could provide us or please direct them to this website and have them contact us directly. Keep checking this website, as we will provide more details as they become available. Thanks and we hope to see you October 14th!!

Well, I think we can almost guarantee the prize for the longest drive to the party will go to Ted Johnson and his wife, Natasha. They just confirmed they'll be coming in for the party from their home in Alaska!

Maureen (Conway) Reich
It was great to see everyone at the June 3 gathering at Scorekeepers! It's hard to believe it's been 25 years. Remember, if you have any old photos you'd like to share, contact me so we can arrange to include them in our photo collage.
2006.07.07 - 02:22:59
David Hager
When you say photo collage, does that mean ALL classmates or just those that were part of the "in" crowd? I only say that because there was a lot going on below the surface that for many of us was just as memorable as that what was happening up above. I never knew you Maureen. I doubt you heard of me, but I managed to publish an anti-Monitor. I think I accomplished something during high school, but there were no cameras to capture the moment. Let's not remember to unforget the unphotographened!

Noreen (O'Malley) Dittrich
Thanks to all who came to the wing-ding night on June 3. It was a nice turn out. On Saturday, August 26th there will be another get together wing-ding at Scorekeepers in Parma Hts. Proceeds will help to defray costs of the reunion It will be held from 6-9pm. Twenty dollars includes beer, wine, house liquor, wings, pasta, and salad. Everyone is welcome, including friends and family. It would be great to see more faces from the class of 81' .
2006.07.07 - 23:50:15
Maureen (Conway) Reich
Wow, Dave, I'm not really sure how to respond to your comment above. It's kinda funny, cuz I never felt like part of the "in" crowd either. In high school, my best friends ended up at Berea which left me to find new friends. I made some great friends there, and I'm really enjoying finding some of them through the reunion and all our gatherings. Honestly, the photos I've collected so far are from the yearbook and a few from my own photo album, mostly of choir friends and a few from drill team. I'm hoping mine are not the only photos I have to include in our collage. If you have any, please send them, they WILL be included! We really hope to see you at the next party.
2006.07.14 - 10:53:11
Craig Carpenter
Seriously, Dave, I thought YOU were the "in crowd" grand poobah. See how our perception of the same thing varies so much from person to person? Personally, I give zero relevance to who anyone was in High School, who they hung out with, In Crowd, Out Crowd, (no crowd?). If I met anyone on the street from Midpark '81, I'd shake their hand, share some memories, then probably wonder how I spent 3 years in the same school and have no recollection of this person. Big School, eh?

If what's left of my memory serves me, I believe the "other" paper's name was "The Merrimac" . . . I could be wrong.
2006.07.21 - 02:17:02
David Hager
Really Craig? I only tried to orchestrate a controlled resistance. I thought what united us was our disunion. Oh well. We should get together. I'm not far from where you live. Owens and I still hang. He'd also like to reunite. Let me know. Kevin, you are spot-on. The Merrimac was the un-newspaper.
2006.07.21 - 15:21:57

Dave, shoot me an email. I'm in the Classmates section. As far as my comments, don't expect me to be competely serious all the time. I had fun at Midpark, and I don't plan on stopping here... Anyone remember [name removed] Midpark Meteor sales tactics? Maybe I shouldn't bring that up…
2006.08.09 - 12:35:14

Mike, that reunion warm-up picture is hysterical!! Great Job. Wait until you see the blow up poster we did of you for the reunion night. Couldn't you have put me in a sun dress or something. I have really nice legs!

Great news! One of our classmates, John (J J) Jedlicka, is the owner of a jewelry store. J J would like to give away a ladie's diamond ring to one of the first 40 people who send in their reunion money! The drawing will be held the night of the reunion. J J's store is Jedfi Jewelers, and is located in Parma. They do custom design, jewelry repair and diamond sales. Good luck everyone!

Speaking of the Monitor. friend and former editor Todd Richissin, class of 1981, was recently inducted into the Midpark Hall of Fame. Todd has had quite a journalistic career in the U.S. and Europe. Don't know if anyone remembers me but spent most of my time hovering around the bookshelves in the caf. with friends checking out the popular girls.

For those who are unable to attend the reunion in October, (that includes me), getting together at Scorekeepers for a "fund raiser" was a great way to meet up with some familiar faces, and some not so familiar as well . . . I had good time for the few hours that I was there . . . thanks to all on the committee for your hard work in putting this together!! And thanks Michael for this web sitel!! All definitley appreciated!!!

Looking forward to the reunion. I was just wondering is there a Friday night get together as well? Liz had mentioned something about possibly Harpo's at Brookgate.

Hey steve, that's really exciting! Let's all agree to make this site the most vendingest ever! Hooray for selling sh#t! You must be so proud!!! Speaking of pride, where's the love for the Merrimac? If I'm to understand correctly through some bookshelf hoverer, some shlub stumbled his way into what peoplz call a "Midpark hall of fame" by defiling his soul penning for the mONITOR. The Merrimac was truer, cleaner and predicted this website in its second issue.

Gotta admit Hager, funny stuff. Or was that leftover aggression due to the multiple swirley's recieved in high school. Regardless, here's to the Merrimac and it's staff of hacks too lazy to do what it took to make the varsity paper. Cheers!

I just wanted to remind everyone to make their hotel reservations before Sept 15. I happened to check availability at the Hyatt on line and they are sold out the night of the 14th for regular reservations. Our rooms are still blocked for us until 9/15, but after that, they might not be available, and definitely not at the discounted price. The Hyatt has a wonderful lounge - a great place to get together after the City Club! See you at the party!

Oops, I forgot to purchase my tickets and hotel reservation on time. Perhaps I might get comped? Hello?

I'm just curious why no one has contacted me about my "comp" tickets yet. I've been very supportive of this website for the past 11 years and attended all the pre-reunion events. Where's the love? I mean, come on, Quiet Riot? That's the reunited band you choose to contract to play? Why not Geils? Or Mercury? I'm looking forward to joining some of you at a bar; whereabouts unknown.

Today is Monday. two days after our 25th HS reunion, and I am still smiling. I am very proud of who we all are today. Lisa Geiger said to me, "I am having so much fun! Did we have this much fun in High School?" Of course we did!! Thanks you to the hard working committee. Both Friday night and Saturday night the buzz was how hard the committee worked and how fantastic the reunion turned out. I really believe when word gets out how successful and fun the reunions were, we will have an even bigger group next time. As much as I enjoyed Saturday, I have to say Friday night was the night for me. I loved trying to guess who our classmates were without name tags. Steve's band was awesome. Saturday was great too, and I especially loved our Saratoga group picture and Gallagher Elementary picture. Our reunion rekindled so many fond memories for me and I thank all of you for our continued friendship. Please feel free to email me at LTucholski@etczone.com. If anyone took pictures, I'd love to see them. Thanks everyone!

It can't be said enough. Thanks to everyone who attended the reunion on Saturday. Seeing all the faces from as far back as elementary school just made it more special. I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. A special thank you to Kim, Maureen, Steve L., Steve M, Karelyn, Leslie, Bob, Mike, Liz and anyone else who helped us put this together. The friendships that I have made or rekindled through this project have been invaluable. Please continue to stay in touch with each other and to check this web site occasionally, get togethers at a neighborhood bar or night club could pop up at any time. Noreen

We're so glad the Mysterious Merrimac Master came to the party! It was great meeting you, Dave - sorry I didn't know you in high school! The whole weekend was fabulous. I'm so happy I got to see so many old friends. It was wonderful reuniting with old friends on the reunion committee and making new friendships. We can only hope that this great website Mike created will keep us together and it won't be 25 years before we see each other again. Mike, next time, we want you at the party!!

What a great reunion the committee put together for all of us! I had so much fun seeing everyone! The City Club was a such a classy venue also! I agree with Maureen that we should not wait another quarter century for another reunion! Looking at everyone, it is hard to believe that it has been 25 years since we were all together! Everyone looked so fantastic! Thank you again to the reunion committee - you deserve a standing ovation!

Thanks to all who put the reunion together. It's great to know we can still party like that (just takes longer to recover). Definitely looking forward to the next reunion, Eileen really wants to be on that committee.

Thanks to all who came out this weekend, whether it be Friday or Saturday. Steve, the band was great!! Thanks too, to Noreen, Karelyn, "the Steves", Leslie, Maureen, Bob, Mike and Liz who helped put this reunion together. I have to admit, I was worried it wouldn't happen, but Steve M was right when he said it would and it did. (I was wrong Steve!!) I had so much fun, and I haven't laughed like I did this weekend in a really long time. Everyone looked great. Here it is Tuesday and I still feel worn out from both nights!! If that doesn't tell you how much fun I had, I don't know what will!!!! Our class knows how to do things right!! Thanks again everyone! Hope to see you soon!! Kim

I just want to say THANK YOU to the reunion committee!! What a fantastic weekend and great new memories too!! I had so much fun both Friday and Saturday night! I can not believe it has been 25 years since we all left Midpark. It was so good to see so many familiar faces and to talk to old friends like I just talked to them yesterday. Wish I lived closer to make it to more get togethers, but this 88 degrees today is feeling mighty good compared to the cold weather I left Monday. We definitley need to try to do this every 5 years and not let another 25 pass us by. Thanks again for the wonderful weekend!!

Eileen (Milligan) Martau
Thank you to the hard working reunion committee, I had a fantastic time both Friday and Saturday! Friday night was great because I was able to see a lot people that did not come on Saturday. I have many new fond memories! Steve your band rocks, would love to see you play next time I'm in town! I also agree with you about the great looking class! Kim, you are not alone, I also feel worn out. I guess we can't party like 18 anymore, but we try! Let's not wait another 12 years. Thanks again , the hard work was greatly appreciated by all!

I looked on Steve's bands website and looks like he's playing at Images again on Dec 23. With people in town for the holidays, or trying to just get through the holidays, it might be a good time to get out and have some fun. Keep it in mind. Oh yea, bring the gong with you! Noreen

If I can be sure of at least 10 '81 grads at Images on Dec. 23, I'll take my moldering Midpark jacket out of its glass case one more time.

OK, everyone, Dave has given us a challenge! I don't think we'll have any trouble getting at least 10 grads on Dec. 23. Dave, we can't wait to see the jacket again! We will also bang the gong to ring in the holidays...

The reunion was definitely worth waking in the middle of the night for 13 hours of travel time and three flights across country (the best itinerary frequent flyer miles could provide), twice. I haven't been home to Ohio all that many times since moving to the west coast (as friends and relatives like to visit here, hint), but this venue provided such a good home coming perspective, a real taste of my roots. Seeing a lot of the kids from Eastpark reminded me of what a good place it was to grow up. Visiting with all the Midpark grads--and hearing how successful they are, reminds me that our alma mater did set us up pretty well for pursuing our lives. I have to admit that I am fairly well entrenched as a Pacific Northwesterner, but I happily admit to flattening my vowels with the best of the midwest! Be well, kudos to the crew, Bobbie
